PROTECTING BAYOU CANE
FOR 58 YEARS
BAYOU CANE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT BEGAN AS A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT IN 1962 AND HAS SINCE GROWN INTO A FULLY STAFFED, CAREER FIREFIGHTER DEPARTMENT. THE DEPARTMENT SERVICES A GROWING COMMUNITY OF APPROXIMATELY 35,000 PEOPLE DAILY.
BCFD HAS FOUR FIRE STATIONS, LOCATED ALONG THE MOST FREQUENTED AREAS OF HOUMA, LOUISIANA. THE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO APPROXIMATELY 2,500 CALLS OF SERVICE PER YEAR IN THE AREAS OF FIRE SUPPRESSION; FIRE PREVENTION INSPECTION, AND INVESTIGATION; EMS; HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONSE; AND RESCUE/EXTRICATION.
